Bike Repair & Cycling

In early August of 2024, my bicycle of 12 years was stolen outside of my apartment. The bike was a gift from my dad for my 12th birthday, and I didn't have any plans to part with it. I had left the bike locked outside with just a cable lock, and the next morning it was gone.

So there I was, left with a cut cable lock and no bicycle. Luckily, a previous roommate left their old, unused junk bicycle here, and I thought it might be a good opportunity to fix it up.

I had zero prior experience working on bicycles, and over the course of the next 16 hours I learned how to inspect the bike to see what repairs it needed, how to replace brake cables and housing, how to replace cantilever brakes, how to replace grip shifters, etc.

Drumming

Taking weekly lessons! Eventually I'd like to be able to play small shows with my friends.

Film Photography

I've finally gotten around to learning how to use my grandfather's old Canon AE-1. I can't get over how great the colors look on this film. I've been using Fuji 400 and it's turned out great. After finishing my second roll of film, I spun the rewind knob the wrong way and jammed the camera. I stayed up until 3am that night carefully following a few youtube videos, performing surgery on the inside of the camera to fix the jam. I hope I never have to do that again.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Slowly but surely working my way up the ladder with this sport. I've been pretty inconsistent this year but every time I return to the mat I remember why I keep coming back.

Tennis

The US Open got me hooked.
